Where do the trails start?
Most singletrack trails begin at the Park & Ride area behind Montagu High School on Hospital Street in Montagu. The longer training rides and gravel routes also utilise the Montagu High School sports fields for both starting and finishing points. Riders can navigate the network using trail maps and GPX downloads.
Is there parking available?
Yes, visitors can park at the designated Park & Ride area behind Montagu High School on Hospital Street. This serves as the main access point for the singletrack trail network and offers convenient access to the Orange Green Blue and extension routes.
Are GPX routes available?
Yes, GPX files are available for all major Montagu Trails routes including the singletrack network training rides and gravel routes. Riders can download these files directly from the trail pages and load them onto their GPS cycling computers smartphones or navigation apps before setting off.
Is there cellphone signal on the trails?
Cellphone coverage varies depending on the route and terrain. While signal is generally available near town and on some lower sections of the trail network riders should be aware that several longer routes have limited or no reception. Therefore Montagu Trails recommends riding with a buddy and carrying basic emergency supplies.
Are dogs allowed on the trails?
Many singletrack routes like the Orange, Green, Blue, Bessiekop and Montaview trails allow dogs. However, owners should always keep their pets under control, respect other trail users and clean up after them to protect the trail environment.
